"Synchronicity" is the long awaited sequel to Ion's 2007 debut "Future Forever". The music on "Synchronicity" is a mix of thematic and ambient pieces, and shows the breadth of Ion's influences. From the spacey ambience of "Blues from a Red Planet" and "SpaceWalker", the melodic intensity of "Waiting" and "Bong Ting" and the rhythmic pulsations in "The Faraway Piano" and "Lexicon".

"Synchronicity" was originally released as "A Fall of Stars" in 2014.
However, following some significant issues involving the licensing of the album, the original recordings have been substantially updated and remixed, and are presented here as a new work.

The BandCamp version of the album features 'Lexicon', which was restored in January 2024 following the resolution of a minor copyright issue.

Synchronicity is the occurrence of meaningful coincidences that seem to have no cause; Karl Jung introduced the concept in his later works, the underlying idea being that there is unity in diversity. I've been fascinated by Synchronicity all my life, the concept that you make your own luck. The more you engage with the Universe, the more it engages with you.

I am particularly proud of "Precis and Response", which was originally composed and performed by my ancestor, William Ions around 1880. In this version, we re-created elements of William's original score using modern studio tools and effects, and performed the piece accompanied by the choir of St. Nicholas' Cathedral, where William was the Organist on 10th March 2010.
